Dress Attire

Young Ladies
Black skirt, 3/4 sleeve or long sleeve white button down oxford shirt/blouse (no polo shirt), with vest or sweater (w/BMCA Crest)

Young Men
Black slacks, short or long sleeve white button down oxford shirt (no polo shirt), with vest or sweater (w/BMCA Crest) and designated tie.

Note: The Bethune Mays Classical Crest will only be worn when in dress attire (formal). The crest will only be worn on sweaters, vests, dress oxfords, 3/4 sleeve white button down blouses and blazers.

School Day Attire

Pants
Black or khaki. Pants that have belt loops must be worn with belts at the waist and belts must be through the loops. NO studded belts or large belt buckles. Pants can be cotton, or cotton blend, no corduroy. Absolutely NO cargo pants, jeans, sweat suit pants, pajamas, logos, insignias, pictures or messages.

Skirts, Jumpers or Skorts
Black or khaki; can be cotton or cotton blend, no corduroy; must be knee level or longer. Blouse or polo must be worn under the jumper.

Shorts
Black or khaki knee length or longer. Shorts must be worn with a belt at the waist and must be through the loops. NO studded belts or large belt buckles. Shorts can be cotton or cotton blend, no corduroy. Absolutely NO cargo pants, jeans, sweat suit pants, pajamas, logos, insignias, pictures or messages.

Shirts
White button down oxford in long or short sleeve and 3/4 sleeve blouses worn daily. Black, purple or white plain collared polo shirts can be worn on the designated day. (Polo and oxford shirts can have the BMCA lettering). Shirts must be tucked into the pants. Note: Undershirts must be white with no decoration exposed.

Sweaters and Vests
May be pullover or zippered. Black, purple or white.

Tie
Designated striped tie

Blazers
Charcoal Grey w/BMCA crest

Shoes and Sneakers
Shoes must fit securely on the foot. Shoes must be sturdy with closed heels. No open toes, or backless shoes, or heels over 1.5" (including flip flops, sandals, mules, and slides). NO wheelies, rollers, lights, noises, checker board, neon, sparkles or flashy colors. Colors: black and dark brown shoes.

Socks and Tights
Solid color black, brown, white.

Belts
Required if pants have belt loops.

Outdoor Jackets
Students choice but must NOT be worn during the school day inside the building.

No oversized or undersized clothing will be allowed

No coats, jackets, hooded sweatshirts, caps or hats are to be worn during school

No student will be considered non-compliant with the uniform policy in the following instances:

• When the student wears the dress of a nationally recognized youth organization or activity, such as Boy/Girl Scouts, on regular meeting days.

• When a student is on school grounds outside of normal school hours, appropriate attire is required.

• When a field trip or school event may require specialized clothing, appropriate attire is required (lunch, before/after school).

Dress Code Enforcement
It is the responsibility of the student and parent to ensure that each student is dressing appropriately for school. Should staff determine a student is out of dress code, the matter will be addressed with the parents and other clothes may need to be brought to campus that day. Repeat violations may result in the child being sent home to change into designated dress.
